Gesna Clarke was born and raised in Mobile, Alabama before relocating to California in 1968. She retired from positions at the University of California, Santa Cruz, and the Superior Court of Sacramento County, having worked extensively in administration and operations. Her professional journey also included teaching roles, and her marriage to a military officer facilitated diverse work assignments at educational institutions across the United States and internationally. Throughout her career, she has been honored with numerous awards; however, she considers motherhood her most significant achievement, with one daughter to her credit.
After retiring, Ms. Clarke dedicated her time to volunteering with various non-profit organizations and served on multiple boards and committees in Santa Cruz and Sacramento, California. In 2022, she relocated from Sacramento to Pasadena, California and remains active in her residential community and the local Pasadena community.
Ms. Clarke, who manages a chronic disease, is dedicated to educating others about her condition and advocating for active participation in health care. She also enjoys traveling, photography, gardening, and bird watching.
